Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Quran Chat mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

1.1 What We Provide

Quran Chat is a mobile application that provides:

• • Quran Reading: Access to the complete Quran with translations
• • Reading Tracker: Track your daily reading progress and streaks
• • Guided Journeys: Themed reading plans with daily verses
• • Bookmarks & Notes: Save and annotate verses for personal study
• • Statistics: Insights into your reading habits and achievements
• • Prayer Times: Calculate prayer times based on your location (optional)
• • Audio Recitations: Listen to Quranic recitations (where available)
• • Search: Search Quranic verses by text or topic
• • AI Assistant: Interactive AI specialized in Quranic exploration and reflection

1.2 Free Service & Premium Features

The App provides core reading functionality free of charge. We offer "QuranChat Pro" as a subscription-based service which unlocks premium features such as unlimited AI reflections, exclusive journeys, and cloud sync.

2. Subscriptions and Payments

2.1 Subscription Plans

Pricing and trial terms are clearly displayed within the App. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

2.2 Billing

Payments are processed by Apple Inc. through the App Store. Your payment method associated with your Apple ID will be charged. We do not store your credit card information.

2.3 Cancellation and Refunds

You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID Account Settings. Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple according to their policy.

2. Account Registration and Security

2.1 Account Creation

To use the App, you must:

• • Be at least 13 years old (or have parental consent)
• • Provide accurate and complete information
• • Maintain the security of your account credentials
• • Promptly update any changes to your information

2.2 Account Security

You are responsible for:

• • Keeping your password confidential
• • All activities that occur under your account
• • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
• • Using a strong, unique password

2.3 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent or illegal activities, your account has been inactive for more than 2 years, or we are required to do so by law. You may delete your account at any time through the App settings.

3. User Conduct and Responsibilities

3.1 Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You agree NOT to:

• ❌ Use the App for any unlawful purpose or to violate any laws
• ❌ Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or user accounts
• ❌ Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
• ❌ Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful software
• ❌ Impersonate another person or entity
• ❌ Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• ❌ Scrape, mine, or extract data using automated tools
• ❌ Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• ❌ Remove or modify any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices

3.2 User Content (Notes and Bookmarks)

You retain all rights to the notes and content you create in the App. By using the App, you grant us a license to store and display your content to you, and the right to backup your content for service continuity. We have no rights to share, sell, or use your personal notes for any other purpose.

You are responsible for:

• • Ensuring your content does not violate any laws or third-party rights
• • Maintaining backups of any critical personal notes

3.3 AI Interaction Rules

When using the AI Chat feature, you agree NOT to:

• ❌ Attempt to "jailbreak" or manipulate the AI to provide prohibited content
• ❌ Use the AI to generate offensive, hate-filled, or sectarian materials
• ❌ Rely on the AI for critical legal or medical advice

We utilize human review of flagged AI conversations to improve safety. You can report any concerns using the "Report" button within the chat interface.

4. Intellectual Property Rights

4.1 Quran Text

The Quran is a sacred religious text in the public domain. The translations and interpretations provided through the App are sourced from public APIs (primarily Quran.com) and are governed by their respective licenses.

4.2 App Ownership

The App itself, including its source code, design, graphics, features, and functionality, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

4.3 Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

• • Install and use the App on your personal devices
• • Access the features for personal, non-commercial use
• • Create personal notes and bookmarks

This license does NOT permit you to:

• ❌ Redistribute or resell the App
• ❌ Create derivative works
• ❌ Use the App for commercial purposes
• ❌ Transfer your license to others

5. Third-Party Services and Content

5.1 External APIs

The App uses third-party services: Quran.com API (for Quranic text, translations, and audio) and Supabase (for backend services and data storage). These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, practices, or availability.

5.2 Verse Translations and Interpretations

We provide Quranic translations for study purposes. Please note: translations are sourced from third-party scholars and organizations, we do not endorse any particular interpretation or translation, the original Arabic text is the authoritative source, and you should consult qualified Islamic scholars for religious guidance.

6. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

6.1 Service "As Is"

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

6.2 No Religious Authority & AI Disclaimer

We are a technology service and do not claim any religious authority. The App and its AI Chat feature are for personal study, educational purposes, and spiritual reflection.

AI ACCURACY: The AI assistant uses Large Language Models and can occasionally generate inaccurate or biased information. It is NOT a substitute for qualified Islamic scholarship, formal religious education, or professional religious counseling. Always verify AI-provided information against the authoritative Arabic Quranic text and consult scholars.

6.3 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR: Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages; loss of profits, data, or goodwill; service interruptions or technical failures; errors or inaccuracies in content; unauthorized access to your data (except as caused by our gross negligence); or any damages exceeding the amount you paid us in the last 12 months ($0 for free service).

7. Data and Privacy

Your use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy. Key points:

• • We collect: Email, reading progress, bookmarks, statistics
• • We don't: Sell data, use intrusive tracking, or share data unnecessarily
• • You can: Access, update, export, or delete your data anytime

8. Updates and Changes

8.1 App Updates

We may update the App to add new features, fix bugs and security vulnerabilities, improve performance and compatibility, or comply with legal requirements. Updates may be required (critical security or compatibility updates) or optional (feature enhancements).

8.2 Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date, notify you in-app or via email for significant changes, and your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you don't agree with new Terms, you may delete your account.

9. Termination

9.1 Your Right to Terminate

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time by going to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. All your data will be permanently deleted. This action cannot be undone.

9.2 Our Right to Terminate

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or applicable laws, your account is involved in fraudulent activity, we are required to do so by law or government order, or we discontinue the service (with 90 days notice).

9.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your license to use the App immediately ends, your account data will be deleted as per our Privacy Policy, and certain provisions of these Terms survive termination (e.g., liability limitations, dispute resolution).
